Demetrius's zeal to see more of a multicultural balance in lead roles in films, especial Action Films, spawned the establishment of the NYC Action Actors Academy Screen Fighting and Tactical Weapons program. The Action Scene Combat program was developed to efficiently train actors to perform choreographed fight scenes preparing actors to have a competitive edge in today’s action oriented film and television industry. Blockbuster films like The Matrix, Bulletproof Monk, Resident Evil, GI Joe, Hero, as well as TV shows like Battle Star Galactica, Nikita, Angel, Alias and the like have all established the birth of a new genre of actors, the Action Actor. The Action Actor is capable of doing limited stunt work and fight choreography, maximizing individual on-screen time and production efficiency.
Demetrius continues the battle for multicultural balance in the Action Film genre with the creation of the Urban Action Showcase and the Urban Action Short Film Showdown. These festival platforms are created to Recognize, Promote, Facilitate and Encourage the participation of ethnic filmmakers in the Action Film genre through the protocols of Information, Education, Networking and Development.
